Artist Andrew Hewkin and I have been friends ever since he came to the stage door of the West End theatre where I was appearing in Clifford Odettes The Country girl. He was delivering a gift of one of his beautiful paintings and I was understandably touched. From that moment on he and I became firm friends and much later on worked on an idea I had for a book of my poems, his images “Songs to Bedroom Walls”
Andrew has kindly donated to Lasting Life a special edition of 20 prints of this beautiful image’Portrait of an Optimist’ each one printed on archival museum quality paper, numbered and signed by the artist.
