Susan and Lasting Life

When my darling husband Simon MacCorkindale was diagnosed with cancer, life changed overnight. He had health insurance but we struggled with how best to treat and it didn’t in any way cover alternatives. We searched for answers and advice that didn’t come cheaply and travelled to the states many times for immune therapy, that really was helping but without additional resources soon exhausted all that we had!

In 2010 five years after diagnosis Simon devastatingly lost his battle with colon cancer, he was 58 years old. He was the true love of my life, an enigmatic vital man who put me first in everything and his selflessness would so have wanted to help others. My reason therefore and purpose in his name is to try to support those affected by, or living with the cruel disease of cancer in their time of need.

We have had success with fund raisers since we began and have been able to award small communities and individuals but not nearly as many as we’d like and the pandemic has played a part in cancelling plans, for the last two important momentum years.

Desperate to find a way to raise funds I came up with an idea to open a shop online. I personally have an extensive wardrobe as do many of my friends in the world of entertainment and I knew they would be only too happy to donate items for us to sell. Even more importantly, my heart hadn’t been able to part with Simon things up to now but if ever there was a reason this would be the one…..

In February 2021 I launched mythingsandothers.com the worlds most exclusive one of a kind charity shop and in just a year  we’ve exceeded expectation. On February 14^th Valentine’s Day – The Prop Store auction house are internationally hosting our very first auction where you can bid for some special once in a life time treasured gifts, donated by some wonderful friends……. Every single penny we make will enable us to make a difference and change someone’s life for the better, just imagine that!
